2022 by the Numbers: ReefCI Conservation Accomplishments
January 12, 2023

A sincere thanks to all of our 2022 volunteers who helped Reef Conservation International make a conservation impact!
2022 marine conservation achievements by the numbers:
- 8662 Invasive Lionfish removed from the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve Park waters
- 14,701 pounds of plastic and trash removed from the ocean via our volunteer beach cleanups
- 391 baby sea turtles successfully hatched and returned to the sea from their natal island – Tom Owens Caye
- 354 marine conservation presentations by our staff to increase awareness and knowledge of reef ecosystems.
Reef Conservation International’s mission is to protect our oceans through hands-on conservation action and marine environmental education and awareness. We empower everyday global citizens to take an active role in directly protecting and conserving the Belize Barrier Reef and our oceans that we love via our marine conservation projects and environmental education and awareness.
